Curious about deck designs from Mark Stutzman?

Collaboration Decks

Before 2025, Mark Stutzman designed decks exclusively for other card producers. If you’re looking to fill out your collection, many of his previous decks are available through the producer or the secondary market.

With a long list of illustration assignments behind him, Mark Stutzman was hired to illustrate a poster for an emerging young magician who conceived an outlandish plan to bury himself under a clear water tank for several days in New York City. The public stunt to promote the television show “Street Magic” catapulted David Blaine to stardom and ranked him among the greatest magicians in history.

This 1999 convergence of magic and art grew into a decades-long collaboration, allowing Stutzman to flex his creative muscle, painting fantastic, magical worlds for Blaine’s image.

By 2006, Blaine wanted to produce a signature deck of playing cards, asking Stutzman if he would like the challenge. Having never designed a card back or tuck before, Stutzman agreed with Blaine’s eager coaching. Together, they introduced SplitSpades Playing Cards that would see multiple editions in the years to come. Since then, Stutzman has designed several decks for Blaine and other collaborators.
